This term, it has been all about…OCEANS! But why oceans when there are millions of other things to choose from? Why? Well one reason is that the ocean is filled with mysterious and unknown things which makes it SOOO interesting! A name of a mystery is the BERMUDA TRIANGLE!!! It is a mystery which scientists are observing closely because of curiosity. Until this day, the mystery of the Bermuda Triangle is unclear because it is impossible to send computers, cameras, video cameras, etc. down there without losing it. That is one reason put forward to the loooong list of things that make it complicated to investigate. WHY do people and transport disappear when they are too close to the triangle? To read more, click here and it might be able to reveal a bit of the mystery.

There is also whaling. Another of those things that goes on in the deep. Why don’t Japanese continue whaling after they know that most countries are against the fact that they ARE whaling? As you may have probably heard, the Japanese Minister has not changed his mind or opinion about whaling. What they are doing to the whales are so bad!!! I mean they kill them, take a bit and then put them back in the ocean-DEAD! That fact really scares me. I mean what would happen if you’re at a beach and you suddenly see this dead whale floating? I would faint!!!

Anyway, so after we investigate on our topic, we had to present it to the lass and what we had to do was “Create something Extraordinary”. It had to be factual and entertaining at the same time. Sharon, Nadine and I are working together to create something “extra extraordinary!” What we are doing is a surprise so hopefully after we do it, I will put it on my blog and we will see if it worked out!!!

If you’re like most kids, you’ve probably heard at least one parent say, “Don’t forget to take your vitamin!” “Eat your salad — it’s packed with vitamins!” But what exactly are vitamins?Vitamins and minerals are substances that are found in foods we eat. Your body needs them to work properly, so you grow and develop just like you should. When it comes to vitamins, each one has a special role to play.Vitamin A:Vitamin A plays a really big part in eyesight. It’s great for night vision, like when you’re trick-or-treating on Halloween. Vitamin A helps you see in color, too, from the brightest yellow to the darkest purple. In addition, it helps you grow properly and aids in healthy skin.Which foods are rich in vitamin A?

milk fortified with vitamin A

liver

orange fruits and vegetables (like cantaloupe, carrots, sweet potatoes)

dark green leafy vegetables (like kale, collards, spinach)

Vitamin B:There’s more than one B vitamin. Here’s the list: B1, B2, B6, B12, niacin, folic acid, biotin, and antithetic acid. Whew — that’s quite a group! The B vitamins are important in metabolic (say: meh-tuh-bah-lik) activity — this means that they help make energy and set it free when your body needs it. So the next time you’re running to third base, thank those B vitamins. This group of vitamins is also involved in making red blood cells, which carry oxygen throughout your body. Every part of your body needs oxygen to work properly, so these B vitamins have a really important job.Which foods are rich in vitamin B?

whole grains, such as wheat and oats

fish and seafood

poultry and meats

eggs

dairy products, like milk and yogurt

leafy green vegetables

beans and peas

Vitamin C:This vitamin is important for keeping body tissues, such as gums and muscles in good shape. C is also key if you get a cut or wound because it helps you heal. This vitamin also helps your body resist infection. This means that even though you can’t always avoid getting sick, vitamin C makes it a little harder for your body to become infected with an illness.Which foods are rich in vitamin C?

citrus fruits, like oranges

cantaloupe

strawberries

tomatoes

broccoli

cabbage

kiwi fruit

sweet red peppers

Vitamin D:No bones about it . . . vitamin D is the vitamin you need for strong bones! It’s also great for forming strong teeth. Vitamin D even lends a hand to an important mineral — it helps your body absorb the amount of calcium it needs.Which foods are rich in vitamin D?

milk fortified with vitamin D

fish

egg yolks

liver

fortified cereal

Vitamin E:

Everybody needs E. This hard-working vitamin maintains a lot of your body’s tissues, like the ones in your eyes, skin, and liver. It protects your lungs from becoming damaged by polluted air. And it is important for the formation of red blood cells.Which foods are rich in vitamin E?

whole grains, such as wheat and oats

wheat germ

leafy green vegetables

sardines

egg yolks

nuts and seeds

Vitamin K:Vitamin K is the clot master! Remember the last time you got a cut? Your blood did something special called clotting. This is when certain cells in your blood act like glue and stick together at the surface of the cut to help stop the bleeding.Which foods are rich in vitamin K?

leafy green vegetables

dairy products, like milk and yogurt

broccoli

soybean oil

When your body gets this vitamin and the other ones it needs, you’ll be feeling A-OK!

My Question was: What causes Tsunami’s?After lots of researching, I have found the answer and it has really surprised me that there was a really simple experiment that explains everything.

The Answer was:

A Tsunami can be generated when converging and destructive plate boundaries move and vertically displace overlying water. Underwater earthquakes, landslides, explosions, volcanic eruptions and testing nuclear weapons in the sea or large body of water.

Along the rings (Ring of Fire) edges, giant slabs of earth crusts called tectonic plates collide together. The plates suddenly come apart and then slam into a new position. This jolt causes an earthquake. If the earthquake lifts or drops on an ocean floor, the water above starts moving too. This triggers a Tsunami.

If you have ever thrown a pebble or stone into a lake or a pond, and watched the ripples surround, you’ve seen this principle work.

    A tsunami coming!

Doesn’t this look scary? It is a tsunami swirling angrily!

Did you know that some survivors have said that they had heard a sucking sound accompanying some big waves just before the Tsunami!

The second one was about natural disaster. Jason(the guy from CSIRO) told us all about natural disasters. Boy, i really learnt a lot of new things and words that day. Did you know that Australiua is in the middle of a tectonic plate? And that’s why it has no active volcano’s in it.

Have you ever wondered why they call tidal waves Tsunami? Well that’s because all waves and tidal.

Did you know that there is a big difference between a natural disaster and a natural occurunce?

A natural occurance is something that happens but does not affect anyone. But a Natural disaster harms a lot of people!!

If you are wondering what CSIRO stands for, It stands for Commenwealth

The end of year is close and I am afraid that I have to say……… Goodbye!
I will still be checking comments and replying back to them it is just I won’t be writing anything until school opens and I will be in Year 6.

This year I have learnt a lot of things like:
What blogs are
What we use them for
How to use them
How to make a quilt panel
How to use the Wii
The importance of friends
I have also learnt more about technical things
And a lot more but you will get bored of reading them so I decided not to name all of them.

To me a friend is a God’s gift and I can’t ask for anything more than friends. I would like to thank all the people who have commented on my blog.
Having people visiting my blog is something to be proud off and I couldn’t be proud without any comments so by leaving comments you are making me proud and you should be proud as well!!

Even though I have some friends that I have never even met before or see rarely, that doesn’t mean that you are less important.
A friend is like a treasure you hold and losing it means misery!
All friends are important and they all have values and I look up at every single one of them and they all have an individual something that they could tell me more about!

I’ll be back next year with a lot of interesting things for you to comment on and we are all moving on to a new year.

So a MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone out there!!!!!
Hope to hear from you soon!

This is a poem written by Kathleen Sheppard called “Angel Teardrop” and this is how it goes:

My guardian angel, once careless and free,Flew into the clouds and lost touch with me,Her tears were cold and wet, falling on my face,Her smile had left us without a trace.

Her angelic lips quivered, frozen and scared,
I felt rain clouds visiting, and had to prepare.
I knew that angels, often content,
were very special presents that God had sent.

To see one so sad,
so afraid,
so alone,
had made me weep while the cold winds had blown.

Her wings lost feathers,
comforting and soft,
falling from the stars,
floating aloft.

Her pain was felt throughout the land,
to feel true misery is impossible to stand.
I prayed so that when her hurting stops,
I’ll be able to taste the angel’s teardrops.

Here is one called “She won’t cry” by Jppoet.

You see the pain that lies in her eyes,
But, alas, her eyes are dry,
She won’t cry.
No, she won’t cry.

You see the anger that burns from her gaze,
The madness that sets her eyes ablaze,
She won’t cry.
No, she won’t cry.

You see the fear that closes her eyes,
The smile she wears is but a disguise,
She won’t cry.
No, she won’t cry.

You see the hope that is finally dead,
She cannot trust for her heart has been bled,
She won’t cry.
No, she won’t cry.

You see the love that lies within,
But she shall never love again,
She won’t cry.
No, she won’t cry.

You see death’s hand that has glazed her eyes,
No one saw her die inside,
They won’t cry.
No, they won’t cry.

The end of the year is coming soon and couple of the Allstars are moving on to year 7. We are all going to miss them! We will see them occasionally but we won’t see them all the time. But blogs are here to save us!We will have contact with blogs exactly like how we have contact with people who live a long way away from us!!
